Milwaukee Job Corps Recruiting 16 - 24 Year Olds

The Milwaukee Job Corps Center is recruiting 300 young people between the ages of 16-24 to fill its training slots. Job Corps is offering a 2-year training program in three fields:

  • Health Care: Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Office Assistant
  • Manufacturing: Manufacturing technician, materials handling, welding
  • Construction: HVAC, Cement Masonry

In addition, Job Corps has an academic center that helps students obtain their GED and strengthen their reading and math skills.  Trainees must meet federal poverty guidelines. While priority is given to homeless youth and those aging out of the foster care system, nearly all students meeting federal poverty guidelines are eligible. A background check will be performed to confirm the applicant is not:

  • On probation, parole, or under a suspended sentence
  • Under the supervision of any agency as a result of court action or institutionalization, unless the court or appropriate agency certifies in writing that it will approve of the applicant’s release from its face-to-face supervision and that the applicant’s release does not violate applicable laws and regulations.

If the applicant has a history of court involvement, the admissions counselor will review the seriousness of the charges and determine whether the applicant should be considered for enrollment based on written guidelines for evaluating applicant behavior and court history.

Once in the training program there is zero tolerance for disruptive behavior, alcohol or drugs. Applicants released from the program have no chance for reinstatement.

Applications for admission are being taken at the Job Corps Placement Center Recruiting and Placement Office:

611 W National Ave # 209
Milwaukee, WI 53204-1714
414- 649-9055

The Job Corps Center campus is located on 60th and Green Tree Rd. Students live in dormitories on campus.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps is a free education and training program that helps young people learn a career, earn a high school diploma or GED, and find and keep a good job. For eligible youth, 16—24 years of age, Job Corps provides the all-around skills needed to succeed in a career and in life. The Milwaukee Job Corps Center is the newest of 125 centers located around the US and Puerto Rico.
